Job Description:

Surface Ship Advanced Maintenance and Repair Engineer Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

The Principal Engineering Technician will act as a leader and mentor to new technicians, by providing technical expertise in problem analysis and solutions utilizing complex instrumentation and software. This will entail performing a wide variety of the most complex technical tasks to support, design, develop, modify and improve equipment, tools, processes, product, procedure and documentation.       • Leads by initiative and example Key Responsibilities The Surface Ship Advanced Maintenance and Repair Technician will engage in troubleshooting efforts and will report anomalies to technical management, create problem reports, and maintain equipment status logs. The candidate will perform a variety of duties in maintenance and emergent in support of Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), from ability to tech manuals, vendor documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings to supports the ship's maintenance efforts.-- The position, based in National City, CA, will support the ship(s), including travel to other domestic ports and OCONUS ports as appropriate. The selected candidate is expected to travel 30% of the time supporting ships in a post-delivery environment and may--be expected--to ride the ship during underway periods as appropriate.--The candidate will work within the parameters and rules common to U.S. Naval vessels. The LCS--Advance Maintenance Technician supports the Hull Lead in all PMS 501/505, IWS 8.0 Combat Systems Port Engineers, SWRMC, sub-contractor and--AIT work executed in LCS availabilities and RMMCO activities. The candidate may be expected to execute the Hardware and Software Integration and Test activities, associated RMMCO activities, alone with at-sea test requirements with the Post Delivery & Trials Coordinator. The candidate assists DPMEs / Hull Leads--in Combat Systems Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT), Final Contract Trials (FCT),--Preventative Maintenance Availability's (PMAV), Corrective Maintenance Availability's (CMAV), Window of Opportunities (WOO) Post Shakedown Availability's (PSA), Selected Restricted Availability's (SRA), and Dry-docking Selected Restricted Availability's (DSRA). Additional Responsibilities
        • Experience in Engineering Control System (ECS) troubleshooting and repair
        • Expereince with test equipment and hand tools
        • Experience working with NAVSEA certified drawings
        • Experience troubleshooting motor operated valves, shipboard COMMS equipment and shipboard navigation equipment
        • Provide input and generate, Conditions as Found Reports (CFR)
        • Complete and submit Work Completion Forms and other Objective Quality Evidence (OQE)
        • The candidate assists in tracking status of all material to include: kitting, shipments, warehouse storage, and inventory
        • Assessing and becoming proficient with the Technical Design Package development
        • This individual must have strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient with typical PC applications to include Word, Project, Excel and Access
        • Professional etiquette and ability to operate effectively in a distributed team environment and effectively communicate customer initiatives, strategy and mission needs
        • Proficiency in Standard Items requirements and required reporting as applicable to the Joint Fleet Forces--Maintenance Manual (JFFMM)
        • Familiar with U.S. Naval protocol and the ability to work directly with interfaces in uniform and with engineers in other companies
        • Effectively communicate site problems concerns and observations to management in a timely manner
        • Superior organizational and time management skills
        • Ability to work individually and in teams
        • Ability to perform hands - on troubleshooting and repair as circumstance dictates
        • Ability to travel for extended periods of time, in some cases on short notice
        • Ability to support out of homeport area temporary relocation for extended periods of time without break in travel
        • 5 years combined experience in U.S. Navy shipbuilding and testing
        • Able to lead in planning, scheduling, and performance of tasks associated with equipment removal, installation, modification, test, operation and maintenance
