Job Description:
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an
affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable
remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as
well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an
exciting opportunity for an Antenna Engineer to join the GA-ASI
division, sitting here in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate
will be part of a small, multi-disciplined team of engineers
engaged in R&D electromagnetic applications, and RF systems
using advanced materials and devices to develop next generation
physical layer solutions for Unmanned Air Vehicles and other
applications. This position will require working with a GA team
that covers technical backgrounds in RF and mixed signal design,
signal processing, FPGAs, Mechanical, and Materials engineering.
The R&D activity is expected to transition over time to the
production of flight-qualified hardware. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide antenna systems design/analysis support and requirements
across a diverse range of platforms. In depth electromagnetic
analysis for radome development and other advanced R&D
programs. Participate in proposal preparation and technical
analysis in support of new business activities. Lead or assist the
project lead to manage system requirements, and lead technical
problem resolution across engineering disciplines during the
execution of the program. Provide technical support to insure that
work products meet requirements through fabrication and test.
Prepare and present status/progress reports, PDR & CDR
presentations, and formal proposals to senior level personnel and
customers. Performs other duties as assigned or required. We

individuals to apply. Job Qualifications: Typically requires a
bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical
discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of
engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute
equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Must have a
complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes,
and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those
concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory,
and practices in related technical specialties. Must possess the
ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them
accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule,
and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach
at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to
provide solutions to a range of complex problems. Demonstrates a
detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of
engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the
ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate
workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some
experience in project leadership. Strong communication,
presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an
effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels
of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential
customers, and government representatives. Customer focused,
formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs
in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Must be
customer focused, able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a
team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as
required. Proficiency with electromagnetic analysis software such
as HFSS, FEKO or CST Microwave Studio. Experience with AWR or ADS
microwave circuit simulator is desired. Proficiency with MATLAB,
Python, C/C++ is desired. Familiarity with antenna measurements
(anechoic chamber, outdoor range, laboratory). Ability to obtain
and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required. Must be a US
citizen.
