Job Description:

health and human services in the areas of early childhood

religious creed. ECS is searching for a Communications Director who
embraces our mission and possesses a strong commitment to
supporting the life-changing services we offer. The Communications
Director is a member of the organization---s senior leadership, who
is responsible for brand positioning, reputation management, and
the development of communications strategics and tactics in
alignment with the organization---s mission to break barriers and
transform communities. This person is skillful and effective at
building relationships, internally and externally, to drive broad
awareness and support for the organization among donors, clients,
volunteers, churches, partners, advocates, and community members.
This position reports to the CEO, and partners with the CEO to
position ECS to increase awareness and maximize programmatic impact
in the community. The Communications Director collaborates
extensively with diverse stakeholders, including the Leadership
team, Board of Directors, partners, grantors, and clients to build
awareness of and support for ECS. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Strategy and
Planning --- Collaborate with the CEO and Leadership team to create
and implement marketing communications strategies (including brand
stewardship, media strategy, messaging, and public relations)
targeting key audiences in support of strategic priorities, agency
and programmatic goals. --- Partner with Program leadership to
develop and sustain communications strategies to engage clients,
policy makers, and build philanthropic support. --- Develop and
manage marketing communications investments, and manage vendors
contracted with ECS for Public Relations and other support. ---
Track and report communications outcomes for the ECS Board,
Resource Development Committee and Leadership Team. Marketing,
Communications and Branding --- Oversee and manage agency---s brand
strategy and implementation for consistency in all print and
digital assets ensuring alignment with agency---s core values and
mission. --- Serve as the primary content editor for marketing and
communications projects, including newsletters, annual reports,
white papers, brochures, and other print and electronic collateral;
engage and supervise additional content writers, as needed. ---
Train and support staff, board and key volunteers in agency
branding and messaging to ensure consistency of messaging across
platforms, communications, and events. --- Lead and guide the
development of print and electronic collateral, including but not
limited to brochures, promotional videos, newsletters, press
releases and annual reports. --- With the Development team, lead
print and digital fundraising campaigns and appeals content and
collateral for individual and institutional donor audiences. ---
Support the planning and production of special events, including
marketing, promotions, event collateral, media coverage and
runs-of-show. Digital Media --- Manage digital marketing strategy,
messaging and content development for donor, volunteer, and partner
audiences. --- Support program and advocacy teams to develop
messaging and share content to relevant client, community, and
advocate audiences. --- Lead collaborative cross-departmental
efforts to capture and share content related to programs,
activities, clients and impact to support fundraising and donor
engagement goals. --- Supervise agency-wide email marketing
strategy to improve efficiency and reach. --- Maintain and develop
the ECS website. Media and Public Relations --- Actively maintain
and develop relationships with English and Spanish media outlets
and cultivate media interest in ECS initiatives and activities. ---
Develop and implement media strategies aimed at brand
awareness-building, fundraising and volunteer outreach. --- Write
speeches for events and presentations, and articles, press
releases, letters to the editor, opinion editorials. --- Support
the Leadership Team and Program Leadership with media coaching and
support in responding to media requests. EDUCATION: Bachelor---s
degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications or
Digital Media are required, advanced studies highly valued.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years--- experience in a related position
or commensurate related experience. Experience as a journalist and
working with nonprofit organizations a plus. Fundraising experience
and/or interest in learning about nonprofit fundraising is
preferred. The position demands a creative and strategic thinker
who is collaborative, effective, focused, organized, and
detail-oriented, possesses strong writing and editing skills, and
has strong interpersonal skills. An understanding of data
management, analysis and reporting is also required to help sustain
and grow marketing reach. OTHER/SPECIAL: Ability to pass a physical
examination, tuberculin skin test, alcohol and drugs, including
marijuana. Fingerprint clearance and criminal check required. Free
from exclusion and debarment. Verification of current driver---s
license and automobile insurance required for personal car usage.
