Job Description:

Overview Performs Diagnostic Radiographic, Cat Scan, Mammography, Bone Density, Ultra Sound or Special Procedures according to department protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers and is successful in the accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in PI/ QC activities. Assists in Maintaining Performance Improvement Program. Supervises Radiology staff in the absence. Maintains department supplies. Promotes teamwork and good customer service. Assists in annual evaluations and staff discipline. Does scheduling for assigned sub departments and maintains supplies and equipment for assigned sub department. Responsible for processing and transmission of Images to PACS. Responsibilities * Positions patients and sets technical factors for all diagnostic procedures. Sets high personal standards for film and image quality.
* Follows department exam protocols.
* Modifies patient protocols relative to the patient physical and cognitive abilities. Discuss these issues with the Radiologist and properly document patient information.
* Appropriately charges all exams performed.
* Ensures all exams are accurately labeled with patient ID, date, technologist ID and time of exam.
* Covers patients during transportation and while performing procedures.
* Ensures compliance with all deemed agencies, State and Federal regulations.
* Maintains medical and surgical aseptic procedures / practices good infection control techniques, can fully explain universal precaution principle.
* Able to assess pain interfering with imaging procedure- makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
* Has understanding and participates in PI process.
* All QC is done at required intervals and appropriately logged- Service calls are placed if QC is out of controls.
* Consistently maintains neat & clean workplace appropriate to hospital standards.
* Work pace is consistent with the department standards. Able to assist Radiologist with therapeutic procedures by having all supplies and techniques ready.
* Sets technical factors accurately to minimize patient dose. Consistently determines pregnancy status of women of child bearing age, before performing exam.
* Utilizes Radiations Safety Techniques while performing radiographic procedures and properly shields patients when appropriate.
* Follows all radiation safety standards for patients, employees and family members. Wears radiation badge as per protocol.
* Uses personal protective equipment appropriately and regularly.
* Informs and educates patients and families regarding procedure to be performed.
* Independently recognizes and performs duties which need to be done without being directly assigned. Establishes priorities; organizes work and time to meet them.
* Recognizes and responds to priorities, accepts changes and new ideas. Has insight into problems and the ability to develop workable alternatives.
* Accepts constructive criticism in a positive manner.
* Adheres to attendance and punctuality requirements per hospital policy. Provides proper notification for absences and tardiness.
* Takes corrective action to prevent recurring absences or tardiness.
* Uses time effectively and constructively. Does not abuse supplies, equipment, and service.
* Observes all hospital and departmental policies governing conduct while at work (e.g., telephone and computer use, electronic messaging, smoking regulations, parking, breaks and other related policies). Qualifications Education and Work Experience 1. Licensure and/or fluoroscopy permit as required by State.2. Effective July 1, 2017 national certification in three modalities or if functioning in a leadership role, national certification in 2 modalities and leadership experience required.3. Must be familiar with State and Federal regulations.4. Current BCLS (AHA).5. One year of acute clinical radiography preferred. 6. Graduate of a program accredited by JRCERT or ABHES7. Proficient computer skills.
